I had introduced you to Village Art Studio in previous occasions, a palace where I attend weekly to drawing from live models. During the month of February I decided to switch from drawing with hard pastels, to using strait acrylics, because of the limited time available to capture the model and bin used to linger in the comfort of my studio, I have to go throw the motions, first terror, second reduce my pallet to a minimum and finally be happy with ever results the fortune brings. I like to add some reasoning to that move: As you become more proficient in a specific subject, is the danger to hang on it, you do it better and others telling you so, arriving to a moment, were you have difficulties to go back to the reason of the training, painting. And here I am, ready to show you the modest results of such endeavour; don’t be too hard, I am looking for guidance. Those works are the result of two settings of two hours of work and several adjustments done in the days following, don forget that the snow has to be shovel, friend has to be attend in Blog an FB and, and wife wants his piece of the pay. So among odder impediments it is always some little time to spare on the canvas.

Últimamente he decidido de lanzarme en una nueva dirección que atañe a mi participación en Villaje Art Studio, que como ya he explicado en ocasiones anteriores, se trata de un grupo de artistas locales los que una vez por semana se reúnen para dibujar a partir de modelos presentes. Pese al corto lapso de tiempo disponible, para mí al menos , dos horas y algo, he abandonado los pasteles por pintura acrílica obligándome a realizar mis interpretaciones con extrema diligencia y a la prima en este nuevo acercamiento que es también enormemente educador. En mi caso, lo he estimado dos veces necesario para romper con los efectos que venían alejándome de la tarea que me había propuesto, la pintura. Me explico,a medida que nos aproximamos a un cierto dominio de una técnica, uno se acostumbra a la facilidad con la que podemos alcanzar un sentido de bienestar creado por la fácil aprobación de nuestro trabajo y así también con la halagadora sensación que otros nos comunican.

Las obras que seguirán están en proceso de pulimiento y algunas se perderán al mostrarse difíciles de mejorar, pero, porque su valor reside en su calidad educadora, lo merecen y es bueno para mí y quizás para los que siguen mi periplo y confrontan similares argumentos.

Quiero presentarles aquí la primera obra de este ano, previamente he completado algunos trabajos de poca monta que realizo para mantener la mano ágil en el momento que la Musa llama a la puerta de mi imaginación. Después de un excesivo y largo periodo letárgico y con las dificultades que con lleva el regreso a la paleta, he podido completar esta pintura de mi my muy querida y sola nieta Nadine, afortunadamente la combinación de amor existente en ambas direcciones han sido el aliciente y motor en la realización de la obra, ahora bien, quizás con un poco de mis buenas intenciones y la inercia resultante del ejercicio creativo me sirvan de arranque para proseguir y si ello no fuera suficiente estoy seguro de que los generosos comentarios de todos esos amigos nunca olvidados harán lo imposible.

No podía dejar para mañana esta obligación moral aquerida con esos compañeros que se preguntan ¿donde esta Gilberto quizás nos está tomando el pelo dejándonos todo el trabajo mientras él nos mira desde los escaños? Bueno no todo es tan fácil, pero yo voy a hacer acto de contrición y lanzarme a la palestra y vivir por aquello de “obras son amores y no buenas razones”

Este trabajo es tan reciente como del jueves pasado, como de costumbre yo participe en los ejercicios de dibujo al Estudio Village Karen I. una de nuestras modelos regulares, fue el motivo de mi inspiración; terminado el dibujo, lo encontré con suficiente mérito para afinarlo en el estudio y hacerlo el objeto de posible admiración. ¿? Ya veremos. El dibujo estuvo realizado en un extraño papel que se emplea como base para la instalación de pisos de actualidad, de alto espesor y grano agresivo se come libras de carboncillo o pastel duro. Después de numerosas pasadas les presento aquí el resultado para su enjuiciamiento. No me manden al Garrote, las intenciones son lo que cuentan. Hasta pronto.

Yo quisiera bien tomar ventaja de estos acertados trabajos y convertirlos de inmediato en pinturas; ocurre que, también creo que la vida es un juego de tira y afloja, en este momento es tiempo de aflojar, disfrutar, contemplar, respirar el aire de los bosques, ver como la luz se escure entre los árboles al caer de la tarde, sorprender las rocas bañadas de los colores que el atardecer nos regala, descansar la noche bajo las estrellas del aire libre, para temprano sorprenderse de luces que de otra manera la imaginación no pudiera inventar, y si somos afortunados quizás, tentar de manejar el tiempo necesario para crear un pequeño boceto al fresco que si no… otra vez será.

Friday I was invited to draw this beautiful lady, hundred and two years young, yes, to our wonder, we have hear for a full hour possing immobile, refusings to rest on teal his care giver close the session, I was so engross in my drawing that I don’t remember if I bread during the sitting, total satisfaction whith the results. Today I put two hours more to cover with Conte chalk the charcoal finished drawing. I am indeed very honor and mowed to had bin part of that event and I should work out a paint and hold in my private collection with gusto.

El viernes pasado fui invitado a participar a una sesión de dibujo en el que la modelo, celebraba su ciento y dos anos de edad, que honor que regalo y que sorpresa de ser tratados con una hora de pose perfecta y continua. Pese a la insistencia de intentos de tomar descanso, a cada uno de ellos la modelo se negaba con una angélica sonrisa. Concertación máxima, sin esfuerzo por mi parte, no recuerdo de haber respirado durante la sesión. Hoy después de dos horas de sobre poner conte sobre el original, carboncillo, no pude aguantar el deseo de presentarles el fruto de mis esfuerzos sin considerar que algún trabajo adicional es necesario para firmarlo. Ciento y dos anos!!!!!

Tuesday the 4th I presented two paintings to enter in the yearly juried show Expressions of our regional Quinte Arts Council, one of them was accepted the other one apparently went on and until the final decision; I am happy with that, there are hard times ahead of us and the Organizations feeling the pinch also, hundred and some more, where presented, thirty accepted.

The following day Wednesday I hung thirteen painting in a solo show sponsor by the same organization QAC. a fine restaurant in the community of Belleville Earl& Angelo’s, and hear stops the car, my quantum of stress is over. I need to look for comfort on al those tremendous and famous friends y discover blogging around; because “no solo de pan vive el hombre” wise popular Spanish saying “man don’t lives only from bread” and Those virtual relations are food for the spirit a goodness one can’t buy with plastic nor cash.

El Martes 4 presente dos obras para la selección jurada de la exposición “Expressions 2010” un evento regional que ocurre anualmente; una de ellas fue aceptada, la segunda, me dicen, se mantuvo en el montón de las seleccionadas asta ultima hora, Me siento contento con los resultados y mas considerando que unas 170 obras fueron presentadas y treinta aceptadas.

Miércoles, al día siguiente, tuve el placer de colgar 13 en una exposición patrocinada por “Quinte Arts Council” de esta región, y por petición popular de obras remanentes de una pasada exposición celebrada en los pasados meses de Diciembre y Enero.”La vida es de color de rosas” pero …“No solo de pan vive el hombre” y es tiempo de desembarcar del carro competitivo, depositar el stress en la papelera y volver la cara hacia donde el confort vive, allá en sitios a los que no he ido últimamente, allí donde están los amigos virtuales que he coleccionando estos últimos meses, ellos como yo, repartimos el pan espiritual de los piropos tan necesario para sobrevivir la cuesta de la vida que son los sueños de que estamos hechos.

I completed this painting last year to enter in the Show Expressions 2009, I arrived whit my two entries a last minute on delivery day and nest day to my dismay my entries were disqualified. At what ever level you are, it is a shock to be taken as experience for the many ones to be in the future. Art can be measured like a commodity for that reason judgments dispensed on his name are of relative value, perhaps only the creator can measure his doings and this is not acceptable. I believe, that the only whey to give a measurable place to a piece of art is the democratic vey by using the law of averages obtainable from a number of interested individuals selected by a professional artist .

Esta pintura fue especialmente concebida para entrar en una competición en una exposición regional el ano pasado y descalificada para mi sorpresa, siempre lo es, sin embargo siendo la primera vez que me confronte con este problema, deduje que no hay mal que por bien no venga y la experiencia seria preciosa para limitar las expectaciones al nivel de juicios en esta suerte de exhibiciones, también me ayudo a analizar el problema que rodea estas situaciones. Y la conclusión es: Enjuiciamientos de Obras de naturaleza creativa son de valor relativo, Creo que seria interesante de usar el sistema democrático, seleccionar jurados de individuos interesados y calificados por un profesional del Arte y llegar a la conclusión empleando la ley de promedios.

Este motivo náutico yo no podría perdonármelo, este Puerto natural, me refiero a pequeñas embarcaciones, esta enclavado entre el parque del litoral de la cuidad y otro pequeño parque, a la derecha del cuadro e invisible, que complementa la situación privilegiada del Club Náutico de Belleville. La marina manejada por la municipalidad puede adivinarse allá al fondo de la pintura, cerca de la desembocadura del río Moira y consecuentemente la Bahía de Quinte.

En este bosquejo yo he pecado en no atender suficientemente al emplazamiento de la modelo, esta situación es consecuencia de minutos cambios ocurridos al comienzo del ejercicio, pero mas a menudo ocurre consecuencia de la prisa ocurrida para ganar tiempo y asegurarse el máximo tiempo para finiquitar el dibujo. Últimamente hemos instalado una soberbia claraboya gigante en el Estudio ahora ello nos confronta con el problema de trabajar con una luz cambiante, con los dificultades que ello conlleva, Algo así como pintar al aire libre . Una dificultad a agradecer ya que viene a complementar la necesidad atacar la obra con rapidez y a menudo cambiar al descubrir variaciones interesantes

I was very satisfied with the original Drawing as it was after the two hour work in the studio, for that quality it was separated to be transformed in to a Studio work at later time, for that reason y give it some thinking, follow with a light after work, well I should have record it in his primary state, for that mistake I lost some of the expressiveness and also a thrust of energy existent in the original work. I hope to, after time, have a fresh look and perhaps found that lost quality. Learn every day something!

Concluido la pose y después de dos buenas horas de trabajo el resultado obtenido fue altamente satisfactorio, por esta razón el dibujo original fue seleccionado para ser transformado en una obra de Studio en un futuro próximo. Considere entonces importante, después de una observación cuidadosa, la necesidad te retocar aquí y allí algunos detalles. El resultado fue un acertado retrato, pero perdió la frescura y expresividad que lo haría quizás una obra artística acertada.
Yo mantengo la esperanza que después de un tiempo de olvido se pueda recuperar en la nueva realización lo más posible de la frescura perdida.

Lección: nunca es tarde para aprender.

I have been busy drawing with our group Studio Art Village, we dedicated tree hours of our time, two times a week, each session comprehends a time for postures, tree to four minutes each, follow with a main pose, thirty to forty minutes Stop, a café, and most important a very active socializing period, finalizing the session whit a continuation of the original pose to the end of the session.
I chose to draw with conte stick concentrating in a light style, to allow me to escape the statics of the pose and concentrate my efforts in understand personalities or any inside of the model. I can move with the changes as she or he show his differences witch are inevitable as the time passes by. The results are not clear every time but rewarding when something happens that touches our sensibilities. Then the Muse has spoken.

La mayoría de los dibujos presentados en este blog son realizaciones que ocurren dos veces por semana con un grupo de artistas que nos reunimos bajo el nombre de Studio Art Vilage, Los o las modelos son en su mayoría estudiantes de la localidad y los artistas que nunca hemos pasado de diez, son también locales, la política del grupo es liberal en lo que atañe a la forma y estilo, que cada uno de ellos escoge lo que categorizara la interpretación de sus obras. Todo esto, se realiza en un ambiente agradable con un suplemento de sociabilidad muy recomendable.

Yo realizo mis dibujos con la conciencia de que serviran mas tarde para las realizaciones de estudio, por ello mi acercamiento es ligero y sin pretensiones ya que el objetivo, no siempre alcanzado, es de mantenerte todas las posibilidades abiertas y así poder fijar las observaciones que continuamente cambian durante el transcurso de la sesión sin que por ello se pierda los esfuerzos previos. Finalmente el valor del dibujo debe clasificarse por la medida que consigue fijar el carácter o espiritualidad del objeto sujeto modelo.

La novedad del blog me ha sorprendido introduciendo pinturas en me inventario sin considerar cual que fuere el orden, si no mas que el hecho de estar a mano. In Belleville, Ontario, we are fortunate to have a Water Front of extraordinary beauty. Perhaps I will, at a later time extend my self in that theme.

Memory Lane’s Pond, is a man made Miniature Lake on the Bay. In this difficult theme, I was trying to concentrate in lilies a little late in the season ,to late, the algae have taken over, his greens ,yellows and ochre’s were all over, for that reason that work became over taken by confusion, The result, a mysterious canvas with difficult interpretation, I like it!

En Belleville, Ontario, gozamos de un maravilloso parque que se extiende ala orilla de la bahía de Quinte, aquí, un sendero continuo quizás de 10 kilómetros rodeado de naturaleza protegida. In 2005 I visited the thousand yearly Town of Meissen no very far from Germany"s Dresden.

Character is all over, bat when I claim the narrow streets in to the panoramic platform of the fort and cathedral, may blik was transfixed by the view of the town below, his orange red roofs freshly done in the effort of new beguines. Full of wonder, I cool no think a better way to honor such gracious old lady. an so Red Roofs was born of a bag of good intentions.
